Amazon.com Product Description: Enjoy filtered water right from your tap by installing this Pur water Pur 3-stage vertical spout-mount water purifier FM370. It attaches directly to your faucet and installs in minutes without using tools. You can easily switch from unfiltered water to filtered water by turning the faucet mount to the up position. This filter reduces dangerous cysts, such as cryptosporidium and giardia, while decreasing all sorts of impurities, such as lead, mercury, asbestos, and chlorine. The Pur water 3-stage only works with standard faucets and will not work with pull-out faucets.
The built-in filter life indicator keeps track of your filter life and it automatically shuts off when filter life runs out. A filter casing, one filter, and an automatic safety monitor gauge come with this product. The purifier's filter measures 2-1/4-by-2-1/4-by-4-1/2 inches; mount measures approximately 3-by-5-by-6 inches. For consumer confidence, it is backed by a 5-year limited warranty.

I've had mine for a couple of months and haven't had the problems with cracking yet that others have described. I like that only the internal filter needs to be replaced, not the whole housing like the Brita. My previous Brita filter did develop leaks and cracks as described here. I think that when this filter dies though, I'll go with a countertop model - the filters last much longer, about a year or so, and I think in the long run it will be a better investment.

I bought this unit (chrome color) in 2005 to provide drinking water for my family. I have not much to say about the filtration capability, but the water tastes good (fine) with it. But the filter life is short for the way we use water (read: a lot of water). In this respect, this filter has not been economical for us.
But I have much to complain about the housing of the filter. First, the positioning of the filter unit on the faucet top is awkward. It reduces our moving space when washing ... Read More

This is our second water filter unit in our current home, and our third overall, having installed one in the apartment many years ago. We weren't able to get filters for the last unit we owned (a Brita) anymore so we picked up one of these Pur units in our local supermarket. Boy, what a disappointment. The plastic (don't be fooled, it's all plastic) cracked pretty quickly, so the shiny bottom you see in the picture is gone - fell off. Instead we get to see the ugly black plastic underneath. The filters ... Read More

Great idea, just not very well made. The first one cracked at the cap, the second one leaked around the faucet where it can't be repaired. Both happened in less than a year. Just doesn't hold up well.

We picked up a Pur faucet filtration system for my home about six months ago. We also bought quite a few filters. They were very expensive (why does plastic and carbon cost so much?), but we figured that good water was worth it - particularly since we have a little boy.
Our water is city water. It's not bad, but we thought it wouldn't hurt to be a little extra safe. It's just too bad we went with Pur.
The filters are supposed to last for two months or 100 gallons. So far, only ... Read More
